Transportation
Children who will be picked up will meet their parent/guardian outside in front of the school. If you have a child that will ride a bus on a regular basis, I will always put him or her on the bus unless you call the school or send a note. This is for your child’s safety. The first few days can be confusing, but I will be there to help your child. If you plan to pick up a child who normally rides the bus or you wish for your child to ride a different bus, you must send a written note. Do not rely on your child to tell me this information. If a written note is not received, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation.
Lunch
If your child will be bringing lunch/breakfast money daily, please put it in an envelope or a baggie labeled with your child’s name on it and the total amount enclosed. This money will be put on your child’s account. When a lunch or milk is purchased, it will be taken from this account. This allows you to pay for lunch on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Ms. Farris, our contracted Chartwells on-site Food Service Director made the necessary recommendations for our district to increase all meal prices for students at all levels for breakfast and lunch by $.10 per meal. The new prices for the 2019-2020 school year are as follows: ES/MS/HS breakfast $1.40 ES Lunch $2.95 MS/HS Lunch $3.00.
Specials
Here is a list of our specials and teachers: Spanish with Senora Graves, STEAM with Ms. Trudeau, Music with Mrs. Sauers, Gym with Mr. Salenbien, Art with Mrs. DeMint, and Library with Mrs. Ott. We have the same special for 7 weeks every day then we switch. Once I know which special is first, I will let you know.
Snack
We will be taking time each day for a short break and snack time. Each child may bring a healthy snack for himself or herself daily. Please do not send chips, cookies, or candy. Fruit, pretzels, or crackers are great choices. Your child may bring a bottle of water, but no juice or other drinks are allowed. Your water bottle needs to be spill proof.
School Attendance
Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. School begins at 7:50 and ends at 2:55. Many of our activities are group oriented and will require the use of classroom materials. Therefore, it may be difficult to make up work at home. Please view school as a priority. If your child is ill, please keep him/her at home. When your child returns they will need either a doctor’s note or a note from you. If you know your child will be absent, please notify the office.
Outdoor Recess
The children will be going out for recess everyday before lunch, unless it is raining or extremely cold. Please keep this in mind when helping your child select appropriate clothing for the day. Students must wear coats unless it is above 60 degrees. During the winter, please make sure you send gloves, boots, hats, and warm coats.
Folders
It is very important to your child’s education that we, parents and teachers, have ways to communicate on a daily basis. The best way for us to send things from school to home, and home to school is in our folders. On the front side you will find your child’s name and mailbox number. I will send home notes, letters, and finished class work on a daily basis. Please spend some time reviewing your child’s class work and asking them about what they are learning at school. If you need to send anything back to class, such as lunch money, please put them in the folder so I am sure to receive them.
Birthdays
We will celebrate birthdays different this year. On your child's actual birthday we will make him/her a special book which he/she will keep. Your child can donate a book to the classroom which he/she can read to the class. According to the districts' new wellness policy we won't be having sweets as much as last year. Once a month your child will celebrate his/her birthday with others who have the same birthday month. More info to come. This is a new policy. Thanks for making us a healthier community. We appreciate your cooperation.
